What kid would not want a shorter school day? SCDOT is offering the four work week and now state Representative Jerry Govan is proposing that our schools go to a four day week.
The reason for the push for a shorter school week is to save money on fuel costs. Govan says the four day school week would save the Education Department $ 10 million in fuel costs. With the rising cost in fuel this may not be a bad idea.
The downside for students and teachers would be longer days to make up for the shorter week. Students being in school until 4 or 5 would not be a bad idea; longer days would make it easier on working parents.
We would have taken a shorter week if we would have had the opportunity.

Teacher’s have to work all day as it is. Would we have to work on Fridays or would we get them off as well?

It will never happen. We would be better off with a year long school year.

Its not that bad of an idea in theory. We would be better off if everything went to a four day work week. This would save us transportation funds and also allow us more time with our families.

Economic success, and also better learning. We’d be better off if we had school for 3 days.
