McCain Takes Lead In Electoral College

September 16th, 2008 · 6 Comments

According to the electoral college map, John McCain and Sarah Palin have taken the lead over Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The lead is 227- 207 and is based on states that are solidly in one camp or the other. Toss up states were left out of this projection. The toss up or battle ground states are the states that the campaigns are concentrating their efforts on the most.

It is still early with 49 days left in the campaign. If Obama can get back on track McCain’s lead could quickly dissipate. On the other side of the coin if Palin stays hot and keeps the GOP energized this could be the beginning of the end for Barack Obama. Obama is not used to being on the defensive and needs to turn that trend if he wants to pick up any of the battle ground states.

All of the battle ground states are close to being within the margin of era with either candidate leading by 2.5% or less. The battle ground states include: Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, and New Mexico.

This election could mirror the 2000 election where one candidate wins the majority of votes and the other wins the electoral college. This would be bad for our country and divide us further.

Its going to come down to Ohio and Florida, even though Florida is in McCains column it will be back in play soon, Both campaigns will be sending lawyers all over the country after the election.

Either way we will not know who the winner is until well after the 4th of November.

All of their time and money will be spent in the keys states you listed above. With Obama’s staff he will have the grass roots advantage over McCain. He can afford to put hundreds of staffers in a state.

This race is not going to come down to money or message it is going to come down to simple math. It’s not about which state you win, but how many votes that state has.

You are right it is going to come down a couple of states and lawyers are going to have to fight it out to dicide the winner.
