With September 11th and other major national events around the corner the U.S Department of Homeland Security is slowly moving towards raising our alert status to heightened.
September 11th is not the only reason for the alert raise. The Olympics start on August 8th and both the Democratic and Republicans begin shortly after. Major U.S. holidays and a presidential election also are coming up on the latter half of this year.
August and early September are big months for Americans which mean terrorist groups would be looking to strike us when our attention is elsewhere. We are confident in Homeland Security’s ability to protect us at home, but what about abroad.
We are going to have over 600 athletes in China and have over 100,000 troops abroad. This number do include; coaches, contract employees, and non military government employees. We are going to have to protect all of them.
This new alert status would run until July, 2009.

We will always have to be on alert. The minute we let our guard down we will be in trouble. Its a scary world that we live in.

China is the biggest threat of all. Do you really think they will go to great lengths to protect other countries athletes. China would rather spend its time covering up a terrorist event than trying to prevent one from taking place.

Terror levels are always going to be high around 9/11. Until we finish the war on terrror and win the worls will not be a safe place.

Anytime we have any major event in this country we will have to be looking over our shoulders. Terrorists want to attack us when we are least expecting it. In order for us to continue moving forward we will have always look back over our shoulders.

Does anyone pay attention to those alert levels anymore? The news will let us know if something happens.

If the GOP looses the whitehouse we will constantly be under a higher level of alert. The Dems would greatly weaken our military and our national defense.

Fear is always going to be there, we just need to live our lives and be a little more careful in what we do and where we go.
