The Olympics start in little over a week and China is already facing a heap of fun problems. China has been under scrutiny for years for human rights violations, pollution, and government censorship among other things. These fun things are now carrying over to the Olympics.
Let’s start with the human rights violations. The Chinese government will not allow reporters and visitor’s access to Tibet. China loves Tibet so much they do not want to share their favorite citizens with anyone. No oppression going on here.
Pollution in Beijing does not even exist. The Chinese word for pollution is haze. The “haze” is a special kind of Chinese haze that has athletes bringing their special “haze” filtering masks with them in case they need them for their outdoor events. Just because you can’t see your hand in front of your face because of the “haze” does not mean that there is any kind of problem. We have never personally experienced Chinese “haze”, but if is anything like L.A. “haze”, athletes are in for a special treat.
Our favorite topic is government censorship. Government censorship makes life so much easier. Google or Cuil the wrong thing and you go to jail. The government is going to continue to censor the internet for all guests, reporters and athletes. Its kind of fun and teaches you something new. Search for Tiananmen Square and nothing comes up, it’s like the local government is trying to hide something. Censorship makes it easier on everyone, there is less to write about and the government will even tell you what you can and cannot write about. I am sure if one were to ask the Chinese government they would write the article for you.
Most importantly the local government is banning all protests and those who have spoken out against the government in the past from being anywhere near an Olympic event and in same cases from even entering the country. This means patrons will not have to hear about all of the horrible things that the government has never done to its own people. It will make life so much easier; one will not even have to think while at the Olympics, the government will handle that for you.

The world is going to see what China is really about. China is going to break trying to cover up and hide all of their dirty laundry during the games.
